The author of “The Living Full Cookbook: Making Family Meals Abundantly Good” and features New Mexican cuisine, Native American food, and other family favorites. It contains over 100 recipes plus a toolbox for hosting, serving, and setting the table along with stories of growing up on the Reservation. GALLUP CELEBRATES AMERICA RECYCLES DAY

11 am-2 pm @ Larry Brian Mitchell Recreation Center (701 Montoya Blvd.). Instead of the annual Recycled Arts & Crafts Fair, the McKinley Citizens Recycling Council will sponsor a Kids’ Recycled Craft Kit Pick-up at the Recycling Depot. JIM THORPE VIRTUAL 5k NATIVE AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP, OPEN COMMUNITY RUN, AND 5K WALK

This virtual run allows you to run anywhere you wish and submit your times to be calculated in the final results. There will be two divisions to choose from, the Native American Division, which crowns the National Champions in multiple age groups — and an open community division for non-Natives to sign up to compete. Natives can sign up for either division. But if you sign up for the community division, you become ineligible for Native American Championship awards. The walk is non-competitive. All participants in both divisions and walk will receive a T-shirt, finishers medal and finishers certificate. Finishers in the top three of multiple age divisions will receive an additional award. MASONS TEAM UP WITH COMMUNITY PANTRY

9 am-1 pm Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services will hold a flu vaccine clinic for adults and children ages 6 months and older at 2111 College Dr. Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots will also be available for those who are eligible. WE READ, WE TALK BOOK CLUB

OFPL’s Book Club is reading Reservation Restlessby Jim Kristofic. As a park ranger, Kristofic explores the Ganado valley, traces the paths of the Anasazi, and finds mythic experiences on sacred mountains that explain the pain and loss promised for every person who decides to love. After reconnecting with his Navajo sister and brother, Kristofic must confront his own nightmares of the Anglo society and the future it has created. The New Mexico Department of Health has a COVID-19 eligibility tool at https://vaccineNM.org. A short questionnaire will help determine eligibility for the Pfizer booster and allow for an appointment to be scheduled.
