McKinley County Magistrate Court performed their first wedding since the peak of COVID-19 earlier this week.

Magistrate Judge Brent A. Detsoi performed the first ceremony of the year for Quaziar Martinez and Alisha Henry of Fort Defiance, Arizona, at their request.

Bailiff Bulmaro Ramirez Jr. and Judicial Specialists Shawnia Begay, Monica Pablo, and Fabrienne Begay all helped to make the wedding an event to remember.

“Mr. Martinez is currently serving in the United States Army and wanted to get married before his deployment overseas,” Detsoi said. “So we decorated the courtroom and played music to make this a memorable event for them.  On behalf of the McKinley County Magistrate Court, we express our congratulations to Mrs. and Mr. Martinez and thank all the individuals serving our country near and afar.”

Other than the administration of justice, a magistrate judge is permitted to officiate wedding ceremonies and renewal of vows.

To book your ceremony, please contact the McKinley County Magistrate Court at (505) 722-6636.
