A man was shot at the Champion Ford car dealership.

On July 17, at 6:59 pm, Gallup Police Officers were called to Champion Ford, 701 W Coal Avenue, Champion Ford, because a man had been shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a Native American man laying in the parking lot. They saw that the man had a gunshot wound to his head.

Medical personnel transported the man to the local hospital. He was later flown to UNM Hospital in Albuquerque. The man, who has not yet been identified, is currently listed in critical condition.

Officers made contact with a Security Guard contracted by Champion Ford. He said the unidentified man allegedly brandished a knife and started advancing on him. The Security Guard stated he then shot the man.
