SAINT MICHAELS, Ariz. — Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development launched its third round of financial relief aimed at artisans and small business owners that suffered financial loss and hardships due to the pandemic and government shutdown on March 6.

“We continue to exist as Navajo in the most powerful country in the world,” President Buu Nygren said.  “Like our ancestors before us, we are resilient.”

Office of the President and Vice President Executive Director of Division of Economic Development, Tony Skrelunas, and Chief Financial Officer Emerson Horace III, were joined by Managing Partner of HN4 Solutions LLC, Spencer W. Willie, and CEO Tribal D, Inc., Bill Farr who also joined Nygren at the launch.

During the first two rounds, the program disbursed $12.2 million in grant assistance through the American Rescue Plan Act serving over 1,500 small businesses and artists. The third round is expected to assist 300-3,000 Navajo business owners and artisans to exhaust the $16 million in grant funds.

Nygren signed a sub-recipient agreement with HN4 Solutions, LLC., a native owned company, who will partner with Tribal D, Inc. to streamline the application and grant distribution process through an online automated system and payment processing through the partnership, on Feb. 14.

HN4 will also perform community outreach efforts, DED offices in Shiprock, Tuba City, Chinle, Window Rock, and Crownpoint, and will have Client Representatives, versed in English and Navajo to assist. These Client Representatives are equipped with necessary technology to help scan and upload relevant information into the portal.
