DISMEMBERED BODY IN THE TRASH
Gallup, Aug. 26

An employee at the Speedway store at 3798 E. Hwy. 66 was picking up trash when she opened the lid of a trash can and found decomposing hands and feet. She called Gallup Police.

Officer Iris Martinez arrived at the scene and found the body parts in the trash can as described. Surveillance footage was taken from the scene, but not discussed in the report.

No information was given for the identity of the victim, and the scene was taken over by the Detectives division.

 

AGGRESSIVE FLEEING SUSPECT
Gallup, Aug. 25

After an argument broke out at the Speedway store near Heritage Plaza, 990 U. S. Hwy. 491, Gallup Officer Julio Yazzie was dispatched to the scene. Yazzie was told the suspect had run across U.S. Highway 491 and was seen standing near the Little Caesar’s Pizza.

The suspect, identified as Rufus Foster, 29, of Twin Lakes, had several containers of alcoholic beverages next to him and was agitated as he spoke to Yazzie. He told Yazzie he didn’t do anything. That’s when Yazzie realized he was intoxicated.

Foster threw a bottle near Yazzie and refused to get on the ground. Yazzie prepared his taser and Foster finally got cooperative, tossing the other containers as he did. Other officers arrived and helped detain Foster, who was returned to the convenience store where he was identified as the suspect.

Yazzie transported Foster to McKinley County Adult Detention Center, but was denied entry after he became unruly. He was taken to Gallup Indian Medical Center where he continued to be aggressive toward Yazzie and the staff. After receiving medical clearance, Foster was taken back to the detention center and eventually placed into a holding cell.

He was booked for assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Foster posted $300 bond.

 

INDECENT SUSPECTS
Gallup, Aug. 25

A couple was seen engaging in sexual acts near Ford Canyon Park Upper Fields A/B, 1010 Tafoya Dr. Gallup Lieutenant Melanie Padilla was dispatched to the scene.

She found Jamie Harry Jr., 55, and Damon Williams, 25, both of Gallup, were half dressed. They appeared intoxicated.

Officer Patrick Largo arrived and transported them to Gallup Detox and placed them in protective custody. They were cited by the Gallup Municipal Courts for lewd, immoral, or obscene acts.

 

FIGHT IN THE RESTAURANT
Gallup, Aug. 24

Two employees at the Golden Corral at 510 N. Eleventh St. got into a fight. One employee told Gallup Officer Julio Yazzie he had told the dishwasher to perform his duties as expected.

That’s when the other employee reportedly turned aggressive, shoving a trash can toward the first worker and then beginning to punch him repeatedly in the face. The fight broke out when the victim moved to defend himself.

Other employees intervened to break it up. During the melee they saw a miniature bottle of Fireball liquor fall out of the assailant’s pocket. He was identified as Rodson Sandoval, 27, of Gallup.

Yazzie spoke with Sandoval at the scene. He denied consuming any alcohol.

The report stated Sandoval would be summoned to court on a Non-Traffic Citation for the battery.

Sandoval was released on his own recognizance by Judge Janelle Griego.

 

BUS ASSAULT
Gallup, Aug. 24

A spat between children on a school bus led one parent to call Gallup Police to document the incident.

Officer Patrick Largo met the caller at her residence. She said her child was assaulted by another student on the bus. She said this was not the first incident in which this student bothered her child.

Largo recalled that he had met with her previously about a similar incident.

She said when her son got off the bus, the student punched him in the back of the head. She also said that the children made the bus driver aware of the incident, but it appeared the driver took no action.

She said her son was not seriously hurt, but she wanted the incident to be documented. She said she would speak with staff at the school where the incident began.
