McCabe had a hard time finding his driver’s license and registration. When asked, he admitted to having had two beers earlier in the day during dinner.

Gallup Patrolman Justin Foster was dispatched to 4200 E. Hwy. 66 in connection with a possible drunk driver.

He met Sheldon Benally, 27, of Rehoboth, who said he hit a dog, but a search of the area found no dead dog. There were branches caught up on the front of the car and the suspicion was he had hit a tree off the roadway.

Foster said Benally showed signs of being intoxicated and was asked if he was willing to take the standard field sobriety tests. He said he wanted to wait for his mother to be there.

Virgil Norton

Dec. 8, 1:06 am

DWI

Gallup Patrolman Michael Eley said he was dispatched to the parking lot of Walgreen’s in reference to a possible case of domestic violence.

He then talked to Virgil Norton, 23, of Church Rock, who was changing the tire on his car, Eley said Norton showed signs of being intoxicated and had apparently hit the curb, which caused the blown tire.

Norton admitted he had drunk two cans of four loco before driving. He agreed to take the standard field sobriety tests and did poorly, so he was arrested for DWI.

He agreed to take a breath alcohol test and posted two samples of .15.
