Arrests made in drug bust

Paul Acevedo, 58, of Gallup, and Cassandra Diaz, 26, of Gallup were arrested Jan. 29,  after Gallup Police detectives searched their homes at 602 and 604 S. Fourth St. in Chihuahuita. Agents investigating Acevedo discovered he was selling heroin out of his residence.

Acevedo was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance: Heroin (a felony). He has faced past charges including receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle and failure to pay dependent support.

Diaz was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant issued out of Cibola County Magistrate Court for failing to appear in court on a Hit-and-Run charge. Diaz has a charge from March 2017 for an expired driver’s license.
