Suspects arrested in Allsup's east 'shots fired' incident

On March 27, just minutes before midnight, Gallup Police officers were dispatched to the Allsup's Convenience Store, 2701 East Aztec Ave., in reference to shots fired. Witnesses reported hearing several shots and vehicles leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

Officers arrived on scene and began preserving evidence and interviewing witnesses. The Gallup Police Investigative Division were called out and worked throughout the night and day, GPD Capt. Marinda Spencer said, in a news release. Detectives and agents were able to identify and locate the suspects and vehicles involved in the incident.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Craig Shirley, 20, of Yah-Ta-Hey, N.M.  Shirley was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit an assault with the intent to commit a violent felony and shooting at or from a motor vehicle.

Daniel Torres Jr., 20, of Gallup, N.M. was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, assault with the intent to commit a violent felony and negligent use of a weapon. Both suspects were booked into the McKinley County Adult Detention Center. No one was injured in the incident.
