Free First-Class Postage for Valentine’s Day Greetings Sent to VA Hospitals and Overseas Military

In support of U.S. active military and our nation’s veterans, The UPS Store® located at 2418 E HWY 66 is launching Operation: S.W.A.K. (Sealed With A Kiss), which provides free first-class postage (49 cents) for one-ounce cards and letters sent to armed forces members stationed overseas or to veterans in VA hospitals.

Unlike emails, text messages and other digital communication, a greeting card or handwritten letter provides a soldier with a memento he or she can keep and use for continued inspiration and encouragement. In recognition of this, and to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our military, The UPS Store created Operation: S.W.A.K. This is the tenth year the Gallup The UPS Store is participating in the initiative.

“Right now, there are more than one million U.S. soldiers deployed overseas,” says The UPS Store owner/manager Michael Lunnon. “It’s our honor to show our support for these dedicated men and women by offering complimentary postage for cards or letters addressed to them.”

Government regulations stipulate that all mail must be addressed to a specific U.S. serviceman or woman with an APO/FPO address (or a veteran residing in a VA hospital) and must include a valid return address. To ensure overseas delivery by Valentine’s Day, Lunnon also recommends sending mail by Feb. 2, although cards and letters will be accepted through Feb. 14.

The UPS Store is also offering free packing services, and/or packaging materials, and 10% off shipping services for care packages sent to servicemen and women.

The UPS Store at 2418 E HWY 66 in Gallup is open M-F 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For more information on The UPS Store products or services, visit https://theupsstorelocal.com/2575 or call 505-722-2818.
