ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The New Mexico Activities Association would like to highlight the following important information regarding the upcoming NMAA State Basketball Championship 1st Round and Quarterfinal matchups.

Championship Brackets:

Boys and girls brackets will be posted and updated throughout the event on MaxPreps.

Championship Locations:

1st Round & Quarterfinals:  Host School Sites (higher seed)

Semifinals & Finals:  UNM – The Pit, Rio Rancho Events Center, Bernalillo HS

 

Championship Dates for

1st Round & Quarterfinals:

1st Round of 16 (at higher seed)

Class A-5A Girls – Friday, March 4th

Class A-5A Boys – Saturday, March 5th

Quarterfinals (at higher seed)

Class A-5A Girls – Tuesday, March 8th

Class A-5A Boys – Wednesday, March 9th

*no cash sales – tickets available online only

 

**Pre-sale tickets will also be made available to each community via the school administration to ensure both spectator groups have the opportunity attend

 

***NMAA Tournament Passes provide access to 1st Round & Quarterfinal games and can be purchased directly from the NMAA office or by calling 505-923-3110

Additional Facility Information for Spectators & Media:

Capacity restrictions/limitations, admittance requirements, and face covering regulations are at the discretion of the host school administration

 

Additional Information Specific to Members of the Media:

WORKING media with a valid 2021-2022 NMAA Media Credential may cover the event.  Only those outlets covering a specific school/athlete will be granted access.

Media members should communicate with the host school administration prior to the event to review local policies/procedures and confirm attendance.

Game Stats Round-Up

Gallup, NM: The Number 1 seed in District 1-4A, the Gallup Bengals 16-12; 10-1 District outran cross town rival Number 2 seed Miyamura 14-14; 8-2 district showdown 62-56.  Gallup shot 57% from the field; free throw shooting at 59%; three points shooting at 34% with (11) turnovers.

 

Led by: Coach of Year-Josh Dunlap; All-District Nathaniel Yazzie (17) points; MVP and All District Kohannon Atazhoon; (16) points; All District Joaquin Ortega (15) points; Kristine Touchine (9) points; Jemaine Smith (7) points and others, Miyamura Patriots shot 57% from the field; free throw shooting at 27%;; three points shooting at 20% with (12) turnovers. Led by: All District Mathias Rodriquez (22) points; Antonio Lavato (15) points; Jayde Irving (4) points; Dinote Gilbert (3) points and others.

NMAA 4A State Play will have #10 Gallup Bengals at #7 Belen Eagles-Saturday. While #16 Miyamura Patriots at #1 Highland Hornets-Saturday. Congratulations, the Gallup Bengals have won (4) straight D1-4A championship.
