On Sept. 29, Navajo President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer congratulated and thanked Angelina "Angee" Holtsoi, who is retiring from the Navajo Nation Department of Justice.

Holtsoi has served on the DOJ for over 37 years. She is the DOJ's longest serving employee.

“Ahee’hee, for your hard work and commitment to be apart of the Department of Justice for many years," Nez said. "Your compassion, patience, and knowledge contributed to the Navajo Nation.

Thank you for your service and we pray for your health, safety, and new journey,” he continued.

Holtsoi began working at DOJ in 1984 as a Legal Secretary I. Within a year, she was promoted to Legal Secretary II. In 1986, Holtsoi was nominated for the Navajo Nation “Secretary of the Year” and was among five finalists, and received the “assertiveness” award. In 1987, Angee was promoted to Legal Secretary III.

"...She is a worker – and a person – whom neither the Tribal Government Affairs Unit under my supervision, nor the Tribal Taxation Unit, which she also serves, can do without," Former Assistant Attorney General William Riordan wrote about Holtsoi.

In 1990, former Attorney General Herb Yazzie stated, “ . . . Ms. Holtsoi is one of the hardest working employees of the Navajo Nation."

Holtsoi eventually became a Supervising Secretary at DOJ, which evolved into her present title, Senior Secretary.
