Ferland Johnson of Thoreau, N. M. died July 2.  He is preceded in death by his Grandmother, Elsie S. Johnson. He is survived by his sons: Kaleb Johnson, Ulijah Johnson; his daughters: Fanithya, Zydenya and Delayza Johnson; his mother: Laverne Barbone; his stepfather: Johnny Barbone; his brother Quindell Barbone; and his sisters: KeShawna Barbone, KayShannon Barbone, and KaShayla Barbone.

The family will receive friends at Baca Chapter House. Funeral services will be held at the Thoreau Church of God, with interment at Thoreau Cemetery.

N. M. Environment Department considering hemp rulemaking process

Hemp Manufacturing Act goes into effect August 1

As the enactment date of the emergency rules looms, The New Mexico Environment Department will host a series of informational meetings for people interested in manufacturing, processing and transporting products made from hemp.

The emergency rules will take effect on the same day as the Hemp Manufacturing Act, August 1.  It allows for the transportation, warehousing, extraction and manufacture of hemp and hemp-derived products, including food and body products. Enactment of emergency rules will allow hemp processing to get underway as quickly as possible in the state.
