It has been a few years since director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The World’s End) has treated us to another one of his quirky and idiosyncratic feature films. His latest is an homage to car and heist movies with a modern spin. Admittedly, Baby Driver isn’t as eccentric as his previous efforts. However familiar the path may be, he throws in enough twists and turns to make it a very enjoyable ride.

Softball tourney to raise funds for ‘Gilly’s’ kids

During this time last year, Gallup had Gilbert “Gilly” Parra. He was shaving and chiseling heads of hair into artistic masterpieces.

Whether a tribal design, or more elaborate – a Sylvester the cat and Tweety bird design,  or bringing notice to autism, Parra was a barber for the ages, and a unique treasure to his family, friends and clients.

The city of Gallup, in partnership with gallupArts, received a $150,000 ‘Our Town’ grant last month from the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant was matched by $150,000 in contributions from local government, institutions and organizations, officials said.
