WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Little Free Library is open.

Located across Wells Fargo Bank in Window Rock between Cocina de Dominguez and Mikasa 2, the non-descript book exchange box bookended by two black benches and newly-planted trees marking the library location contains books that may be read or taken.

People can also replenish the free library with books.

The June 21 ribbon cutting ceremony for the Little Free Library brought together educators, students and community members to commemorate the occasion.

Local teams race to raise funds

“Survivors make it personal, Scientists make it happen, Teams make it possible.”

These sentiments were felt at the Annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life held at the Gallup-McKinley County Downtown Courthouse Square, June 15-16.

This year’s theme was “Christmas in June – Wrapping up a Cure,” where numerous Relay For Life teams came and set up their own Christmas scenes at their booths. Teams such as: Big Dreams, Team Navajo, A Family Affair, to name a few held their own concession stands to do their part in raising money for the relay.

Introduction:

My wife and I operated a Christian Bookstore here in Gallup, NM from 2005 through June 2011.  While we operated that store, I came in contact with many, many people from all walks of life and many of them were “street people or homeless” people.   Here is a story of one of those life changing encounters.

This a story about a man named Don he was a former Vietnam Veteran, he was a recovered alcoholic, he was a convicted felon and he was a man of God.  There are 7 parts to this story.   Parts 1 – 6 were written in 2011.
