Madame G suggests taking a deep breath: HALT. If you’re hungry, angry, lonely, or tired pause before you respond. Saturn enters retrograde today and that mixes everything up. It’s always better to regret not saying anything than to regret having said too much. Focus on your tasks and take time to finish up any lingering...

Letter to the Editor: A spirited journey

Editor,

When the Longest Walk 5--”Declaring War on Drugs” arrived in Gallup (NM) on March 17 and 18, 2016, I didn’t know how many people knew what was taking place, although, even as this historic event has come and gone, the war continues here as it does in every community along their way to Washington, D.C. which began on the Barona Band of Mission Indians Reservation in San Diego County, southern California on a 3.500 mile spiritual journey.

Here in Gallup, the drug of choice is everything under the sun but alcohol seems to gethe most attention and this is reflected in the costs of operating a detox center that is the proverbial (regional) money pit, quite literally.  A...

The latest meeting of Veterans Helping Veterans A Team was on Mar. 18 at the Fire Station on North Second. The focus of this meeting was the more immediate upcoming event requiring the attention of all area veterans.

The first one, of course is Memorial Day, which is celebrated twice in Gallup; once by the motorcycle riders with the Run For the Wall scheduled to arrive here on May 19, and then by the ceremonies, parade and speeches on May 30.

Run For the Wall is an annual event and Gallup has been a stopping place for the group (there are three) leaving California on May 18. The riders should be getting off Exit 16 around 3:30 pm and will roar through town to Red rock State Park where...

Roll Call

It’s impossible to understate the importance of this year’s statewide and area elections. Now that the filing period is over, the winners of this year’s races will be tasked with improving things like public safety and working to make better education and finding remedies to McKinley County’s crime problems and the financial woes at NCI.

The things that need attention aren’t for the faint of heart, or for elected officials backed by a faint-hearted electorate. The fate of Gallup and McKinley County must be determined by those who live and pay taxes, expressed through their elected representatives.

For the most part, everyone knows who’s running. The four...

The Sun enters Aries on March 20 and a Lunar Eclipse occurs on March 23. If that’s not enough to throw you out of sync, the time change will. Now is the time for clearing out clutter. You may feel forced to undergo a painful bout of maturity and refocus priorities. Where should your emotional energy go? Don’t waste a valuable resource. Madame G suggests you conserve it or put it where it belongs.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Your quest, should you accept it, requires a whole new level of emotional growth. Your sign charges forward bringing in all the messy energy of heightened senses, passions, and conflict. You may have experienced a life-altering event or made an important...
