SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials on April 23 announced 169 additional positive tests for COVID-19. Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:




31 new cases in Bernalillo County

1 new case in Chaves County

3 new cases in Cibola County

6 new cases in Doña Ana County

1 new case in Guadalupe County

1 new case in Harding County

3 new cases in Lea County

54 new cases in McKinley County

Navajo Nation extends emergency declaration, closures amid ongoing COVID-19 spread

The Navajo Nation extended its declaration of a state of emergency and also extended the closure of Navajo Nation government offices and related entities until May 17 to help slow the spread of COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation April 22.


The Navajo Police Department issued 179 citations during the second 57-hour weekend curfew, which ran from April 17 - 20. One-hundred and eight of those citations reflected curfew violation citations. The other 71 were for traffic violations.


The numbers reflect preliminary totals provided by six out of seven police districts. Tuba City, Ariz. and Crownpoint, N.M. received the largest number. Tuba City got 48 citations while Crownpoint got 31. The...

Eleven test positive at RMCH

Eleven employees at Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19 as of April 22. The staff members are under quarantine until they are cleared.  The hospital is in the process of testing and identifying all employees who may have been exposed to the 11 who tested positive.

 

Dead body found

Gallup police learned about a person described as "down and out" around 2 pm today (April 21).

Public Service Officers were sent to the scene at 714 South Second St.  The male individual was not breathing.  Medical professionals were called and determined that the man was deceased.

At the time of this report (3:04 pm) GPD Captain Erin Toadlena-Pablo said police officers had not yet made their way to the scene.

The male, whose age has not yet been reported, will most likely be sent for autopsy.

Toadlena-Pablo said at that point it will be possible to determine if there was any foul play.
