Combats drug-related crime

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Administrator Timothy J. Shea announced on Oct. 21 that the DEA will direct resources to help reduce violent crime in communities throughout the country.

Under this initiative, called Project Safeguard, the DEA will identify and prioritize ongoing drug trafficking investigations with a nexus to violent crime.

“Drug trafficking and violent crime are inextricably linked,” Shea said. “From the extreme levels of violence in Mexican cartels, to the open air drug markets in American cities, drug traffickers employ violence, fear, and intimidation to ply their trade.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Nearly $50 million was added to the Navajo Nation CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Stimulus) Act Hardship Assistance Expenditure Plan through Navajo Nation Council Resolution No. CS-74-20. After the Navajo Nation Council considers and then approves an application process it will give the Office of the Controller all necessary approvals to implement the hardship assistance program.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – The Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 29 new COVID-19 positive cases for the Navajo Nation and no deaths on Oct. 21.

The total number of deaths remains at 574. Reports indicate that 7,403 individuals have recovered from COVID-19, and 118,092 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 11,030, which includes two delayed reported cases.
