A call to McKinley County Sheriff’s Office early in the morning resulted in one arrest for battery.

Deputies Johnson Lee and Michael Harvey were dispatched to a residence on Coronado Boulevard after the calling party advised the suspect had left the scene in a red truck and had possibly parked on the backside of Speedway Towing near 545 Allison Rd.

The officers arrived at the Coronado address and found the suspect vehicle. They met a male who lived at the scene who told them about a female who had been hit by her boyfriend, Marcus Miller, 31, no address listed. Martin Heinrich, D-NM, co-founder of the Electrification Caucus and member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, joined U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, and White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy as they formally announce historic levels of funding to establish the new nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law on Feb. 10.

Carjacking suspect arrested after collision with police units

Gallup Police received a call involving a carjacking at Hampton Inn West at 111 Twin Buttes Rd. about 1:30 pm on Feb. 15.

The victim told police a Native American man pointed a pistol at her and then drove away in her blue Ford Escape SUV. Shortly after the call came out, deputies from the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen vehicle being driven on the east side of Gallup. The deputies followed the vehicle through the Indian Hills and Red Hills neighborhoods and initiated a pursuit.

Six local motels get red tags after annual city inspections

The City of Gallup inspects local hotels and motels annually to ensure they are up to code and suitable for guests. During the Jan. 25 city council meeting, Gallup’s Planning and Development Director Clyde Strain shared the 2021 findings.

He said six motels received red tags and were told they had to close their businesses due to code violations. The six were the Hacienda Motel, Blue Spruce, Arrowhead Lodge, Lariat Lodge, Zia Motel, and Redwood Lodge.
