MHS scores early, often in 5A rivalry win

Marc Rios, Brandon Vidal, Brett McFarland, and Jason Cordova each scored runs for the Miyamura Patriots in the first inning, leading the Pats to an 18-3 victory over cross-town rival Gallup April 21 in a varsity baseball game played at Gallup High School.

If those four runs weren’t evidence enough that the Patriots were for real, the superstar lance Evans sealed the early onslaught with a home run in the same inning. All in all, Miyamura (12-8, 5-2) scored 12 runs in the opening inning. Miyamura head coach Brian Silva said he believes the Patriots must win two of the final three games to take the District-1, 5A title. Silva praised his...

Scorpions remain undefeated in 5A

The Miyamura Patriots jumped out to an early lead April 14 against the Farmington Scorpions, but ended up falling to the Scorpions 10-4 in a baseball game played at Patriots Field.

With the win, Farmington improved to 14-5, 5-0 on the 2018 baseball season and Miyamura dropped to 10-7, 3-1. The Scorpions scored a slew of runs in the fourth inning and Miyamura was unable to answer.

“They got hots and we weren’t able to get ourselves back on the scoreboard,” Patriots’ head coach Brian Silva said. “We gave up too many runs and hits in the fourth.” One of the things that proved detrimental this week for the Patriots was the fact that there...

In some game scenarios, there are rabbit targets that run on the ground like jackrabbits. Just like no two golf courses are the same, no two sporting clay...
