The latest trilogy of Star Wars films has had a storied and contentious path, with many loving the new chapters and others disparaging the series. In particular, the previous installment, which some fans said dispensed with story elements that they held most dear. For this reviewer, the franchise sequels have served as enjoyable if insubstantial popcorn entertainment. The latest chapter is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which attempts to revise some recently added elements, link itself back to the original trilogy, and provide a stirring franchise finale.

Trees bearing fruit
2019 Festival of Trees benefits Community PantryThe 2019 Festival of Trees held by the Rio West Mall. The Dec. 7 event attracted a crowd of approximately 100 people eager to view and win decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and displays. Each was donated for a raffle to benefit the Community Pantry.
According to Executive Director Alice Perez, when you donate and/or sponsor a decorated tree, wreath or gift, you help raise money and awareness about the fact that 1 in 4 children in New Mexico are hungry. Tickets for the event were sold for $3 apiece or 4 for $10.

Models from Thailand to the Continental DivideKnown for its beautiful Native American jewelry, Thunderbird Supply Company is also known for the models who represent them on the pages of their unique calendar. Models chosen to represent Thunderbird Supply Company also make appearances at the Gathering of Nations powwow and the WildThing Championship Bullriding.
With the arrival of the new year, the calendar will showcase seven models. Past calendars had six.
