Fourth open field death this month

Gallup police learned about a person described as “down and out” about 2 pm April 21.

When public service officers were sent to the scene at 714 S. Second St., the man was not breathing. Medical professionals were called and determined that the man was deceased.

Gallup Police Department Captain Erin Toadlena-Pablo said the male, whose identity, age, and ethnicity have not yet been determined, was sent for autopsy.

She said at that point it will be possible to determine if there was any foul play.

Eleven test positive at RMCH

Staff Reports

Eleven employees at Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19 as of April 22. The staff members are under quarantine until they are cleared.  The hospital is in the process of testing and identifying all employees who may have been exposed to the 11 who tested positive.

McKinley County Sheriff’s Deputy Franklin Begaye said he was traveling north on U.S. Highway 491 when he saw a car with its turn light on crossing the center line.

He made a traffic stop and approached the driver, Shelby Logg, 27, of Yah-Ta-Hey, who showed signs of being intoxicated. Begaye said he also saw several empty liquor miniatures on the car’s center console.

Logg agreed to take the standard field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was then arrested for DWI and transported to the sheriff’s office, where she refused to take a breath alcohol test.
