Obituary: Remembering Judge Carol K. Perry

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Speaker Seth Damon offer condolences to the family, friends, and former colleagues of Navajo Nation District Court Judge Carol K. Perry, who passed away on March 1, 2022, in Albuquerque, N.M. at the age of 70 years old.

Perry was born in October 1951 in San Francisco, CA. She is Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan) and born for ‘Áshįįhi (Salt People Clan). She was appointed probationary District Court Judge and confirmed probationary District Court Judge by the Navajo Nation Council in April 2005. She was confirmed to serve as District Court Judge on Dec. 19, 2007.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez, Speaker Seth Damon, and Vice President Myron Lizer offer their condolences to the family of former Tohatchi Red Willow Farm Board President and beloved community leader Dorothy Bitsilly, who passed away on Feb. 23 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Bitsilly is Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Her maternal grandfather was Táchii’nii (Red Running into the Water People Clan) and her paternal grandfather was Naakai dine’é (The Mexican Clan). She is originally from Tohatchi, NM, and born on September 28, 1928.

KAYENTA, Ariz. — Speaker Seth Damon and the 24th Navajo Nation Council offer their condolences to the family of renowned Diné silversmith, respected community leader, and former Council Delegate Victor Beck Sr., who passed away at the age of 80.

Victor Beck Sr. is Tl’izi Lani (Many Goats Clan) and born for ‘Áshhi (Salt People Clan). He was born on Oct. 2, 1941 and was originally from Pinon, Ariz. Raised on the central portion of the Navajo Nation, he served from 1979 to 1983 as the Council Delegate representing the Pinon Chapter.
