Thoreau, June 16

A Thoreau man was arrested for criminal damage to property after a store clerk refused to sell him liquor.

The clerk told McKinley County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Davis Jr. that a man came into the Thoreau Speedway Store about 9:25 pm on June 16 and attempted to buy liquor. Because he was intoxicated, the store clerk refused.

The man then became very upset, said the clerk, and stormed out of the store. As he left, he raised his right hand into a fist and hit one of the windows in the front door and shattered it.

Gallup Police issue missing person alert

The Gallup Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Tiffany Erica Gray, 35, of Gallup.

She was last seen on June 20 at Days Inn West, 1603 W. Hwy. 66, in Gallup. She was wearing a white shirt and black pants at the time she disappeared.

Gray is described as 5’3”, 160 pounds with brown eyes and waist-length black hair. She has a “DITTO” tattoo on her right tricep and three dots below her right eye.

Gray was last seen driving a black 2015 Chevy Blazer with a cracked windshield and a feather hanging from the rear-view mirror. Her intended destination is unknown.

McKinley County Sheriff Deputy Terence Willie said he was at one of the roadblocks set up to prevent cars from entering the city because of the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus at the time.

The roadblock was at the intersection of the Twin Buttes Road and Highway 55. Willie said he was informed that the driver of a car that was stopped there showed signs of being intoxicated. Willie said he went to talk to Delski Bills, 30, of Gallup.

Willie said he noticed Bills smelled of alcohol. When asked if he had anything to drink before driving, Bills admitted to having had two shots of vodka.

Authorities seek missing woman in Cibola County

CIBOLA COUNTY — The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman who has not been seen since June 12.

Deputies from the department have been looking for Elaine Vigil, 54, of San Rafael.

Cibola County Sheriff Tony Mace says the department has searched extensively in a three-mile radius between her home, her ex-husband’s home and her son’s home to no avail.

“We do not believe foul play is involved in any of this,” Mace said.

Mace said there have been no leads on the case as of June 16.

“We’ve brought search dogs, cadaver dogs, we’ve used drones a Global Positioning System tracker, 20 to 30 people on foot, horseback, and ATV’s,” Mace said.
