Santa Fe County, N.M. - A recent New Mexico State Police operation has taken thousands of fentanyl pills off the streets and led to the arrest of two Santa Fe residents.

On July 6, a New Mexico State Police officer was surveilling Cooks Road in Santa Fe, in reference to suspected criminal activity, when he observed suspicious behavior outside a closed auto shop.

The officer observed an individual accessing a Honda CRV outside the closed shop several times. When the officer attempted to speak with the individual he fled on foot and the officer gave chase. Gallup Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle that was allegedly involved in a burglary.

The burglary happened at Catholic Charities on July 19. If you have any information, call Metro Dispatch at (505) 722-2002. Reference Case # 22-28979.

A body was found near the Family Dollar store on the south side of Gallup.

On July 27, around 3:00 pm, Gallup Police found the body in a field near the store. No further information is available at this time. 

STOLEN TRUCK

A woman has been charged with stealing a Gallup Police detective’s truck.

On July 10, around 5:52 am, a fellow detective called Metro Dispatch to report that his gray Ford truck had been stolen from his house. When he called, the detective was following the stolen vehicle into Gallup.

Around 5:56 am, the detective said the truck was approaching the construction area near Chino Loop in Gamerco. Gallup Police Officer Warren Bowannie saw the truck when it drove past the Mesa View Plaza.
