Injured Gallup Police Officers identified

Two Gallup Police Officers were injured in the incident that occurred at the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial parade.

The Officers have been identified as Officer Gilbert Gonzales who has 16 years of law enforcement experience, one of those years with the Gallup Police Department, and Officer Elijah Bowman, who has been with the Gallup Police Department for two years.



These two officers have been treated and released from the local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Pinedale man arrested after striking several people at Ceremonial parade

A Pinedale man is under arrest after driving through parade barricades and striking several people during the opening parade of the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial Centennial Celebration.

The parade was in progress at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 4 when Gallup Police officers received a report of individuals drinking alcohol inside a beige Chevrolet Tahoe parked along the parade route in the area of South Seventh Street and West Coal Avenue.

CAUGHT AGAIN

Gallup, July 22

A Gallup police officer had to pull a man over after he saw he was driving an unregistered vehicle for the second time, and when the officer went to check the car he also found meth inside it.

On July 22, around 2:30 pm, Gallup Police Officer Brandon Salazar saw a man that he recognized as Anthony Estrada, 67, driving a black Chevy Camaro, going east on Aztec Avenue near Second Street. According to Salazar’s report, he knew Estrada because he had stopped him in the same Camaro and given him a warning for having a false display of registration in the past.

Aggravated DWI with minor in vehicle

A call for a welfare check on a child led to Thomacita Edison, 30, of Santa Fe, being arrested for DWI with a minor in her vehicle.

Metro Dispatch received the reports of a welfare check of a child in a residence on the 600 block of West Mesa Avenue. Gallup Officer Jarad Albert responded to a call for assistance on locating the child from Officers Jamaal Coleman and Daniel Brown around 7:30 pm. The father of the child said she was not at home and was possibly out with her friends somewhere in town.
