An attempt to locate was issued for a white Kia Soul driven by Marland Lee, 34, of Yatahey, which led to Lee being arrested and charged with a seventh DWI.

McKinley County Deputy Brandon Salazar was passing Chee Dodge Elementary School traveling north when a vehicle matching the attempt to locate description approached him from behind swerving over the fog line. Salazar slowed down so the vehicle could pass him, but the vehicle instead turned onto the road towards the school.

MOTEL DAMAGE

Gallup, Aug. 17

A man broke multiple glass doors at the local Super 8 Motel.

On Aug. 17, around 9:30 am, Gallup Police Officer Cindy Romancito was dispatched to the Super 8 Motel at 1715 W. Hwy. 66 when the motel manager called in to complain that a man had damaged the property.

When Romancito met with the motel manager, she explained that a man, who was later identified as Bryson Nelson, had come in and damaged a door and a window, and used the fire extinguisher.

According to her report, Romancito noticed that a glass door had been shattered near the motel’s pool. The motel manager estimated that it would cost about $500 to fix the door, $200 to fix a side...

Aggravated DWI w/ minor in vehicle

A brown Chevrolet Suburban covered in mud was the subject of a welfare check by McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, a check which led to the arrest of Sharon Peterson, 37, of Tse Bonito, N.M., for numerous charges including DWI with a child in her vehicle.

Metro Dispatch was advised of the vehicle located on Defiance Draw Road about two miles south of State Highway 264. Deputy Terence Willie traveled westbound to the scene and found a vehicle matching the caller’s description turning onto State Highway 264 west. TAKING A NAP

Gallup, Aug. 13

A man tried to take a nap in a car, but he didn’t have permission from the car’s owner and had to get in by throwing a rock at the car’s window.

On Aug. 13, around 5 pm, Gallup Police Officer Lionel Desiderio was dispatched to the Rex Museum, 301 W. Hwy. 66, when a man allegedly broke into a gray Dodge Journey.

When Desiderio arrived at the scene, he met with the victim and noticed that her car’s rear window was shattered. According to his report, Desiderio also noticed that there was a man, who was later identified as Christopher Begay, laying in the backseat of the car.
