Ricky Yazzie, 21, Mentmore

Aggravated DUI

Citizens, Gallup Police Department and McKinley County Sheriff’s Office worked together July 22 to take an alleged intoxicated driver off of the road. Even though Yazzie refused all standardized field sobriety tests, breathalyzers and blood draws, the fact that multiple callers called him in as a drunk driver and that he was found passed out in the driver’s seat should say something about his state of being.

A citizen, who was not named in GPD Officer Jessie Diaz’s report, stayed behind Yazzie on Ford Drive in the turning lane that would have taken the vehicle directly onto the main Highway 66.

Tyrell Charley, 21, of Churchrock NM is facing aggravated battery charges after a fight broke out at McDonald’s East July 24. According to the report, filed by GPD Officer Matthew Ashley, Security pointed out the individuals who had been involved in a physical altercation but had already left the area. Ashley found Charley at Hollywood Car Wash. Charley told him that a couple had started verbally assaulting him as he was leaving McDonald’s and that it had turned into a fight.

Felony: Great Bodily Injury

Kirk is facing multiple charges for allegedly running over his friend Buddy Jeffries – three times – according to a State Police report compiled by Officer Chanelle Preston July 17. Jeffries told Preston that he and Kirk were arguing, and when he got out to walk toward his house, Kirk started driving his truck toward him, proceeding to run him over three times with his black pickup truck. “I don’t know what Mike’s problem is,” Jeffries, told the officer, according to the report. Papa John’s robbed, suspect at large

Gallup Police Department Capt. Rick White said that a male suspect walked into Papa John’s on 2102 E. Hwy 66 shortly after noon on July 22 and demanded money. He lifted up his sweater to reveal a handgun. The cashier reportedly gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money, then he headed out of the restaurant westbound. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, medium build, and was wearing a dark sweater with the word «Rocawear» inscribed on it, grey sweatpants, a blue baseball cap and sunglasses.
