LOS LUNAS, N.M. – On May 1, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting involving the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office.

State Police agents learned that on May 1, at about 12:07 am the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence in Los Lunas for a report of a stolen firearm. Deputies were told by the victim that the suspect, Isaac Pineda, 37, of Los Lunas, had stolen the victim’s firearm. The victim also said that the suspect threatened to harm the suspects own family with the firearm.

IDENTITY THEFT

Mentmore, April 14

The McKinley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a Mentmore man who said he is the victim of identity theft.

Matthew John told deputies that he had received statements from two loan companies that he has been approved for loans of $5,000 and $4,000. He said he also had received approval from a mail order company.

When asked how someone could have gotten his personal information, he said he lost his wallet containing his social security card in the mall four years ago. He said he also does personal business using his WIFI account.

NPD is seeking the public's assistance in locating Bessie Garcia, a Native American female, 76-years-old, 5'5" tall, weighing 160 pounds, with white hair and brown eyes.

She has a tattoo on her left hand of “Bessie”, a scar on her left eye brow and her right hand is bandaged from a surgical procedure. Bessie was last seen on April 29, at Residential RA 4 off County Road 7780 in Nageezi, N.M.  It is unknown on what type of clothing she was last...

Suspect in vehicle pursuit arrested in west Gallup

Gallup Police made an arrest in the vehicle chase that ended at Oasis Mediterranean Restaurant, 1301 W. Highway 66 on April 30.

Tyson Long, 23, of Ft. Wingate, N.M. faces multiple charges from crashing into two undercover narcotics agents vehicle, including charges for fleeing the scene on foot.

The call came in shortly before 3 pm, and it took some time for Gallup Police officers to sort out the details.

After Long crashed into the two agents, he fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area, including the Gardenia Inn, 1305 W. Highway 66. Narcotics agent Neil Yazzie sustained minor injuries in the crash, and was treated and released from a local hospital. Agent Lionel Desidario...
