Large marijuana haul found in truck of hotel guest

Gallup police were called to Comfort Suites at 1:11 am June 26 in response to a report by security personnel.  Officers were told about a man pushing “bags” between the fence dividing Comfort Suites and Townhouse Suites. Those bags were later discovered to be full of marijuana.

When officers checked the registration of a male they were questioning, it matched a vehicle in the Comfort Suites lot.  They found a 2007 silver Toyota Tundra with a damaged bed cover. They noticed a large quantity of narcotics inside.

The male was Clarence Begay, 24 of Prewitt, N. M. Begay admitted to breaking into the vehicle and taking eight bags of “weed” from the truck.

Weapons pulled outside the Gallup Indian Medical Center

On June 21, shortly after noon, Gallup police responded to a call at the Gallup Indian Medical Center after an employee said there was a male who pulled a firearm and demanded money from someone outside the building.

The male with the weapon was described as Native American, about six feet tall, with a thin build and short hair, wearing a black and white checkered long sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

FBI offers reward for information in 2014 homicide on Navajo Nation

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the 2014 death of Amy Lynn Hanson.

Hanson, who lived in Tohatchi, N.M., was last seen alive two days before her body was found in an arroyo at State Route 602 and Blue Medicine Well Road in Red Rock, N.M., on the Navajo Nation, on Nov. 30, 2014.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Hanson was 25 years old at the time of her death.

The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety have been investigating since Hanson’s body was discovered.

Woman found dead on Ryan Lane

At about 3:15 pm on June 18, Gallup Police officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a woman who lived at the Red Bluff Trailer Park at 201 Ryan Ln. Capt. Erin Toadlena-Pablo told the Sun that police had been advised by the woman’s friends that they had not heard from her and that she failed to show up for work.  Officers met with the people who called, then proceeded to do the welfare check.
