Update on New Mexico COVID-19 cases: Now at 35
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced seven additional positive tests for COVID-19 on March 18.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:Four people in Bernalillo CountyOne person in San Miguel CountyTwo people in Santa Fe County
Including the above newly reported cases, New Mexico has now had a total of 35 positive tests for COVID-19:Bernalillo County: 20Sandoval County: 4San Miguel County: 1Santa Fe County: 7Socorro County: 2Taos County: 1

County commissioners declare health emergency
More screenings, limiting staff, sending people home
After both the United States and the State of New Mexico declared health emergencies over the growing pandemic of COVID-19, McKinley County has followed suit.
During their March 17 meeting, the McKinley County Board of Commissioners moved to declare a health emergency for the county. County Manager Anthony Dimas Jr. said the county will be eligible for funding that may come from the federal government or state government after the declaration.
The declaration also gives the county manager’s office authority to delegate work schedules and hours to get through the emergency, Dimas said.

Two members of Navajo Nation test positive for COVID-19
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer were informed Tuesday by the Navajo Department of Health that two members of the Navajo Nation have tested positive for COVID-19.
The first confirmed positive test came from a 46-year-old individual, with a recent travel history, who resides in the community of Chilchinbeto, Ariz. This individual reported their symptoms to the Kayenta Health Center. From there, the individual was taken to a hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. where the test was conducted by the state’s Department of Health.
Health and emergency officials are taking the proper precautions to screen and isolate the person’s family...
