Michael Sage gets NM IDEA Award

The 2021 Developer of the Year Award has been given to Michael Sage, Deputy Director of the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation at the NM IDEA Annual Membership Meeting, Feb. 17.

Sage was recognized for his advocacy for struggling McKinley County businesses during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. He helped save more than 125 manufacturing jobs. He also assisted the City of Gallup in efforts to obtain grant resources and led an initiative to create a new industrial cluster in Gallup related to the development of driverless vehicles.

Suspected internet crime cost New Mexico victims almost $24 million in 2020

The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center has released its annual report, with New Mexico victims of suspected cyber scams reporting losses of over $23,900,000 in 2020.

 

The 2020 Internet Crime Report includes nationwide information from 791,790 complaints of suspected internet crime — an increase of more than 300,000 complaints from 2019 — and reported losses exceeding $4.2 billion.

Broken water line affects pressure

Some of St. Patrick's Day promises to be a little dry in the areas of 112 W. Hill, 110 W. Aztec Ave. and 200, 230, 306, 308 S. Second Street due to repairs being made on a broken water line in the area.

The Gallup Water Department will need to shut off water in order to do their work safely.

Dry faucets and low water pressure may continue until 3 pm.

Water line break affects water service

City of Gallup water customers will be impacted by a water line break at the intersection of Second Street and Maloney on March 15.

While the Gallup Water Department excavates and makes repairs, there may be discolored water beginning at North First Street heading east to the Pantry.  Customers may also experience low water pressure or no water coming out of the faucet.

Surrounding areas may also experience low water pressure.


The City of Gallup reports that most of the North Side will experience a yellowish tint in the water due to naturally occurring minerals that get stirred up in the iron pipe of the water main.
