On April 13, at about 7:00 am, Gallup Police Officers were called to the Cliffside Apartments on the west side of Gallup in reference to a domestic dispute.On arrival, Officers discovered Fran Tah, 34 of Gallup, and a juvenile female had both been shot in the chest. Gallup Municipal Court to reopen

Gallup Municipal Court will reopen to the public May 3. Upon entrance to the court, everyone will be required to wear a facial covering. That covering must be worn throughout the visit in the building.

 

The court will follow all CDC and U. S. Supreme Court COVID guidelines for social distancing and granting access to the building.

Missing man

Frelin Yazzie is missing.
He was last seen almost a month ago at Economy Inn on Gallup's west side. He is 35 years old, 5'7" tall and 185 lbs. He was wearing a dark grey t-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He has tattoos on his eyebrows

Governor signs historic cannabis bill into law

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed into law April 12 a law legalizing adult-use cannabis, following other states in a measure approved by the state Legislature after the chief executive called them into a special session to examine this particular issue last month.




HB 2, sponsored by Democrats — three of them representatives and two senators, none of which were from McKinley County — had been awaiting the governor’s signature for a few days until Lujan Grisham could sign legislation that came out of the general session, Nora Meyers Sackett, press secretary to the governor, told the Gallup Sun.

Details released on New Mexico State Police Officer-involved shooting in Luna County

LUNA COUNTY, N.M. - New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 10 eastbound, near mile marker 102 east of Deming, N.M. on Feb. 4.



During the traffic stop, Jarrott asked the driver, identified as Omar Felix Cueva, 39, of Deming to exit the vehicle. Cueva exited the driver’s side holding an AR-15-style rifle and fired at least one shot at Jarrott as he was walking to the rear of the vehicle. Jarrott ducked and fell onto his back as Cueva ran around the back of the pickup toward Jarrott.
