A vehicle crash near the 7-mile marker of Highway 122 in Thoreau was called into Metro Dispatch. McKinley County Sheriff’s Deputies Dewayne Holder and Harland Soseeah were dispatched to the scene.

A bronze Ford Focus with heavy damage was stuck in a barrier fence between the frontage road and Interstate 40. The calling party informed deputies the two vehicle occupants were sitting on the shoulder of the road and said the driver, identified as Sheldon Wally, 28, of Crownpoint, had exited the vehicle first.

Money for infrastructure: Transforming our framework

Calling the investment “transformational,” N.M. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act would deliver once-in-a-lifetime funding for broadband, roads, water, climate resilience, and create a generation of good-paying union jobs and economic growth.

“The investments in this bill will go far to further the work my administration has done, and continues to do, to build better lives for New Mexico families,” she said. “I’m proud to have been directly involved in advocating for this legislation, and I applaud President Biden for his leadership and dedication to making these historic...

Two semi trucks traveling east bound on Interstate 40 in the right hand lane collided just after 7 am on Nov. 16 when the truck in front slowed due to the glare of the sun. The truck traveling behind it did not slow and hit the back of the first semi.

The collision started a fire which completely engulfed the cab of the second semi. The driver of that truck was killed. No identity has been released.

The driver of the first truck was taken to the hospital after complaining of injuries. The severity of the injuries has not been reported.

On her way past the courthouse 41-year-old Regina Vee of Gallup managed to capture the attention of McKinley County Undersheriff James Maiorano and Sergeant Tammy Houghtaling Nov. 16.

Vee was driving the wrong way on Third Street which only allows traffic to travel in one direction.

Maiorano and Houghtaling turned on lights and sirens, but the driver fled for a few blocks before stopping. She refused to take the Standard Field Sobriety Tests or the breath test. Vee was arrested and charged with her second DWI, open containers, going the wrong way, careless driving, and no insurance.
