Man threatens others with machete

A man was walking around the Heritage Plaza reportedly threatening people with a machete.

On July 5, around 2 pm, Gallup Police Officer Daniel Brown was dispatched to the Pepboys tire shop at 702 U.S. Hwy. 491 when a caller told Metro Dispatch that a man was threatening people at the store with a machete.

FBI announces cyber security outreach for New Mexico businesses

The FBI wants to make the private industry in New Mexico aware of increased malicious cyber intrusions and encourage companies of all sizes to establish proactive relationships with them  as soon as possible.

Executives and cyber agents from the Albuquerque FBI Division are involved in media appearances, a social media campaign, and presentations to local industry groups.

A Gallup was reportedly stabbed during a fight.

On Aug. 10, around 2 am, Gallup Police were called to the intersection of North Eleventh Street and West Wilson Avenue when an unresponsive man was found lying on the ground. Police arrived and determined that the man was deceased.

The man was later identified as Davidson Begay, 36, of Gallup. Detectives observed that Davidson appeared to have been involved in a fight, and may have been stabbed.

Injured Gallup Police Officers identified

Two Gallup Police Officers were injured in the incident that occurred at the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial parade.

The Officers have been identified as Officer Gilbert Gonzales who has 16 years of law enforcement experience, one of those years with the Gallup Police Department, and Officer Elijah Bowman, who has been with the Gallup Police Department for two years.



These two officers have been treated and released from the local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
