Kewa Pueblo man pleads guilty to assaulting federal officer

Faces eight years in prison

ALBUQUERQUE – Avery Cate, 27, an enrolled member of Kewa Pueblo who resides in Bernalillo, pled guilty in federal court in Albuquerque Nov. 15 to assaulting a federal officer.

Cate was arrested in June on an indictment charging him with assaulting a federal officer.

Seeks public’s assistance in solving crime

The FBI released photos of a getaway vehicle used in an August bank robbery in Albuquerque in the hopes somebody will come forward with information to help solve this crime.

The suspect is believed to have fled in a gray Chevrolet SUV with a yellow New Mexico license tag.

A man wearing a red baseball cap and red shirt robbed U.S. Bank, 2015 Eubank Blvd. NE., at approximately 4:49 pm on Aug. 15.

The suspect was described as a white male in his mid-20s, approximately 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, with a thin build.

He wore a red baseball cap turned backwards, sunglasses, a long-sleeve red shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

FLEA MARKET FUSS

11/17, Thoreau

An argument at the Thoreau Flea Market resulted in the arrest of a Prewitt woman for battery on a household member.

McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Nocona Clark said she was dispatched to the flea market at 1:22 pm on Nov. 17 in connection with an ongoing domestic dispute.

When she arrived on scene, she found a man and woman, both of whom wore dirty and disarrayed clothing and were getting up off of the ground. Clark placed handcuffs on the man.

She said the man was “emotional and crying,” and he told Clark his girlfriend, Sharrie Ryan, 33, had thrown him to the ground and punched him in the face several times.

State Police arrest Cibola County man for raping juvenile

CIBOLA COUNTY – The New Mexico State Police Uniform Bureau and Investigations Bureau were called to investigate allegations of criminal sexual penetration of a juvenile against Edwin Mariano, 40, of Grants.

Through an extensive investigation, State Police agents learned the victim resided in the home with Mariano. During the investigation the juvenile disclosed that Mariano gave her alcohol and sexually assaulted her.

On Nov. 1, State Police officers were able to locate and successfully arrest Edwin Mariano without incident in Grants.

He was booked into the Cibola County Detention Center on the following charges:

Apparent murder-suicide leaves four adults dead

The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Tsayatoh, N.M., that left four adults dead, including the suspected shooter.

Preliminary indications are the shooting, which occurred early the morning of Nov. 13, was an act of domestic violence.

An adult woman with gunshot wounds was taken to a local hospital. The incident occurred inside a residence.
