New Mexico’s Business Improvement District Act was created to “provide municipalities and entrepreneurs a more flexible and proactive vehicle to collaborate in the revitalization efforts of their downtowns, commercial districts and central business districts.”

In enacting the Business Improvement District Act, New Mexico’s legislature recognized that in many cases improvements and action are more quickly addressed through the private sector.

Odor-Eaters smelly shoes contest

The smell of victory was literally in the air as 15-year-old Quannie Burnham took home first place in the fifth annual “Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest” at Walmart May 6.

And tickets are only $5. There will be a performance at ArtsCrawl 7 pm on May 13. Bring the family. Kids 12 and under get in free.

For fans of the Bard in Gallup who have been waiting for this day to come, you can’t miss “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged).” It’s a fun...

JCPenney brought a mobile fashion show to the event to demonstrate to participants how to dress for an interview. Afterwards, participants received some clothing to help get them started in their search for a new job. There we’re countless other local sponsors involved in the feel-good event that lasted for more than four hours.

Speakers discussed how to break down the barriers of employment and find a job, and engaged participants in interview...
