Gallup Police are currently looking for an unknown male who attempted to rob Subway at 409 West Aztec Ave. According to the poster, on July 13 a male entered the establishment and told the cashier that he was robbing her. Due to the male appearing intoxicated, she didn’t take him seriously and closed the drawer. The male left the business in a Navy Blue Jeep Patriot, and he is being described as being possibly in his late 20s, tall and heavy build. Anyone with information is asked to contact GPD Detectives at (505) 863-9365.

Michael Chavez, 51, with a Gallup post office box, was arrested July 2 for drinking in public as well as Siobahn Harvey, 33, of Vanderwagon and Ernest John, 59, of Yahtahey. According to GPD Officer Charles Wommack’s report, Sgt. Rosanne Morrissette saw the three individuals “sharing a beer in the open view of the public.” They were arrested and booked on the charge.

Edlen Begay, 29, of Mentmore, was arrested July 13 for shoplifting almost $950 worth of merchandise from Walmart. Although two females were also witnessed, by Walmart loss prevention, placing items into a blue storage tub in a cart, they left prior to Begay leaving the store without paying for the items. Begay also said, according to GPD Officer Victor Rodriguez’s report, that the females “had nothing to do with it.” Shoplifting in that amount is a fourth degree felony.

Another arrest for shoplifting was Elijah Thomas, 26, Fruitland. Thomas was arrested after he was seen by a shop owner at the Rio West Mall July 8, stuffing a t-shirt into “the front waist area of his shorts,” according to GPD Officer Ryan Blackgoat’s report. The shop owner also told Blackgoat that Thomas had pulled a black in color folding knife on him. Blackgoat did locate the knife and charged Thomas with aggravated assault, a fourth degree felony, as well as the shoplifting, a petty misdemeanor.

Petricia Watson, 32, of Gallup told McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Jim that she had fallen asleep behind the wheel July 12 when her vehicle struck a concrete wall in the area of West Maloney Avenue and Seventh Street. The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle she was driving and had to be towed from the scene. The driver did not report any immediate injuries.
