Lathan Antone, 25, Crownpoint, NM

Antone was arrested July 5 by McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Johnson Lee. Lee found Antone asleep behind the wheel of his pickup truck while the vehicle was running but parked in the south bound lane of Highway 491 just north of Maloney avenue. Upon waking him, Antone attempted to drive away. MCSO Deputy Arnold Noriega placed spikes in front of the vehicle to stop him. Antone’s breath test results registered at twice the legal limit at a .16, .17. He was arrested and booked into the jail for aggravated DWI; resisting, evading or obstructing an officer; having an open container; stopping, standing or parking and an outstanding warrant out of Cibola County.

Elison Tso, 33, Gallup Post Office Box

Tso was arrested July 5 by MCSO Deputy Garylle James for aggravated DWI and driving on roadways laned for traffic. James states in her report that she was looking for a gray pickup truck in the area of north Highway 491, in reference to it being called in as having an intoxicated driver.  The vehicle was spotted and seen “swerving in the roadway” by the deputy. Tso gave up on the field sobriety tests shortly after starting them and he agreed to take a breath test, results .19, .20.

Leon Chavez, 29, Crownpoint, NM

MCSO Deputy Nocona Clark watched Chavez get into his vehicle at the Mustang in Thoreau, NM July 5 and monitored his driving behavior in the Thoreau area. When the vehicle jerked quickly into the opposite lane and back, Clark pulled the vehicle over. According to the report, Chavez had switched seats with the middle passenger. After failing several field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest and taken for a breathalyzer test in which he blew .20, .19. He was arrested and booked for aggravated DWI, driving left of center and having no insurance.

Eleanor Begay, 58, Mentmore, NM

Begay was arrested in the early morning hours July 4 after motorists approached Gallup Police Department Officer Steven Peshlakai and told him of Begay’s erratic driving behavior. Peshlakai stopped the vehicle at Arnold and Aztec, where Begay displayed multiple signs of being intoxicated, according to the report. Her breathalyzer test results were .17, .17 and she was booked for her third DWI, aggravated due to the high breathalyzer results and for not driving on the right side of the street.

Sherry Ryan, 28, Grants, NM

Ryan was also booked for her third DWI July 3 by GPD Officer Jeremy Shirley. Sgt. Francie Martinez stopped the vehicle Ryan was operating after its description was given over the radio as an attempt to locate. Martinez located the vehicle and was able to stop it right away due to expired license plate registration tags. After failing to complete field sobriety tests, Ryan was transported to the hospital for a blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content level. She was booked for her third DWI.

Bryce Thompson, 27, Churchrock, NM

Thompson was arrested July 5 on his first DWI charge by GPD Officer Chaz Troncoso after he was found asleep behind the wheel in the McDonald’s east drive thru. Troncoso put in his report that he reached in through the open window, put the vehicle in park and removed the keys from the ignition. The driver, Thompson, was then woken up. He admitted to drinking and driving, and failed several field sobriety tests before blowing a .22, .19 and a .18 on the breathalyzer. He was booked for aggravated DWI.

Nicholas Chee, 23, Ganado, Ariz.

GPD Officer Luke Martin arrested Chee for DWI when he was found intoxicated and had been in an automobile accident on Miyamura Overpass June 26. After performing “poorly,” according to the report, on multiple tests, Chee was arrested and taken in for a breathalyzer test. His results were more than twice the legal limit of .08 with .18, .19 results. Chee was booked for aggravated DWI and for having an open container in a motor vehicle and following too closely.
