Robbery suspects still at large

Surveillance video filmed the same two suspects robbing two gas station convenience stores within an hour apart, starting close to the midnight hour Sept. 17.

Now police are asking for the public's help in identifying and catching the two, armed bandits. During the robberies, one suspect brandished a semi-automatic handgun and the other a tire iron.

The first store that the duo hit was the Mustang located on 3340 East Highway 66 at 11:37 pm.

Subsequently, at 12:27 am, Sept. 18, at the Conoco on 3302 West Highway 66, the suspects repeated the deed.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and at least one bottle of water.

Navajo Nation to leave detox center

Tribe remains tight lipped

As the city scrambles to replace the Navajo Nation Department of Behavioral Health Services, the current entity running Gallup Detox Center, the Oct. 3 deadline given by the tribe looms closer with each passing day.

The city sent out an emergency Request For Proposals in the hopes of getting a qualified entity to take over by the deadline.

The Nation submitted their termination letter to the city Sept. 3. According to the memorandum between the Nation and the city, the original termination date was set for Oct. 31, 2018.
